DISC's SEM Alert Archive

The following is a selected archive of recent SEM alerts sent to subscribers of DISC's newsletter.

10/14/07 - "Do this Search Marketing with or without DISC's Help"

Whether with DISC's help or not, there are some new search marketing activities you should do as soon as possible to maximize profits from your web site.

During our 11 years in business (oh my God I'm getting old), DISC has broadcast very few emails to people who once contacted or worked with us. I write today because this news is helpful to you, and naturally I hope you'll choose to get some help from DISC.

The jobs below are listed in order of the likelihood that a good non-specialist on your team can learn them sufficiently, if not ideally, without DISC. You could have your team try the first two with only high-end guidance from DISC, while DISC does the latter two.

(1) Google and Yahoo Webmaster Services: Google and Yahoo now offer these services to help web marketers manage and assess website integration with the search engines -- because professional web marketers repeatedly requested them. Especially important are (a) Google's free XML feed into their index and (b) Google's reports on the top searches that have listed your site and produced click-throughs. $1250. For more details, see www.2disc.com/webmaster-services.html.

(2) Local Search Marketing and Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) Advertising: Local SEM and IYP are now far more cost-effective than print yellow page advertising. $1650. For more details, see www.2disc.com/other_paid_placement.html.

(3) Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Also known as usability re-engineering, CRO is often the single most cost-effective web marketing task. CRO is the process of maximizing the likelihood that visitors to your site will choose to become customers (or to take some other conversion action, like filling out a contact or RFP form). More companies have come to realize not only that flawed usability is disastrous, but that optimum usability can offer astonishing returns: It's not uncommon to get a 100% to 400% boost in orders or other conversions from improving a site's user interfaces. In addition to many years of CRO experience, DISC's CRO people have read every canonical usability book and study, and compiled all the dos and don'ts, so that we can check your site's fidelity to all the rules. You can achieve at least 80% of ideal usability without costly usability testing. Optimized usability makes SEO and PPC expenditures generate optimum returns. Costs range from $1250 to $5700. For more details, please see www.2disc.com/cro.html.

(4) DISC's Quarterly Report: This report assesses SEM ROI, addresses problems and opportunities in SEM and site code, and provides an insurance policy against a host of damaging, SEO-related changes that happen to web sites over time. It pulls into one report the content of DISC's SEO Technical Report (which most new clients get and should be done at least once per year), SEO Results Report, and the Link Report. $1500 to $2000. For more details, see www.2disc.com/quarterly_reports.html. Each of those three parts of the Quarterly Report can be done separately at less cost.

If the above links don't answer all of your questions, please email anytime or call during East coast business hours.

Of course we would be delighted to help you through DISC's core web marketing services in SEO, PPC, trusted feeds, and web development as well.

Sincerely,

Rob Laporte, President
